Decarbonisation
The school has now decommissioned the gas meter supplying the plant room, eliminating gas costs and significantly reducing its carbon footprint.
We replaced their existing gas fired boilers with a renewable energy external air source heat pump (ASHP) and internal water to water heat pump (WWHP) to deliver 70°C heated water mitigating the need to increase existing heat emitters.
We formed a new concrete base and acoustic enclosure to house the large, external air source heat pump (ASHP). This heat pump delivered 45°C via a trench formed for the flow and return heating pipes going into the plant room located 20 metres away. The existing boilers were decommissioned and replaced with a single water to water heat pump (WWHP) which boosts the water from 45°C to 70°C.
JACKWOLF Group implemented advanced ASHP/ WWHP technology, delivering a high temperature heating system which allowed the school to maintain its existing pipework and heat emitters without the need for costly upgrades.
