PROJECT OVERVIEW

To replace all existing domestic hot water pipework within the whole building and replace in copper. The building was built in 2003 through PFI Contract, the user has suffered poor water temperature for many years due to the George Fischer plastic pipework originally installed.

Jackwolf Group secured through a two stage process (best cost and quality score). Working with the NHS Estates team and their consultant Clancy, we took the outline employers requirements and worked up full designs together with costs. This provided a full design and cost without risk to the NHS Trust. To ensure the operating hospital is not affected a 22 phase programme was devised on which we formulated a zonal plan with temporary services to maintain amenities to all departments.

JACKWOLF'S SOLUTION

JACKWOLF Group’s solution was to undertake the works over a series ofweekends. Through careful zoning of portions of the building, we isolated areas removed existing and installed new mixing valves. Commencing on Saturday morning, we completed by Sunday morning, leaving time for NHS Water Safety Group to undertake cleansing and testing of the installation, then thoroughly clean and leave site. Each and every section was completed in time for hospital activities on the following Monday morning.

PROJECT DELIVERY

Works consisted of new domestic water services, LTHW and replacement equipment to the plant rooms within the roof space as an upgrade. Access undertaken to all risers, ceiling voids, junction point systems etc and which require subsequent builders works in making good and upgrading access. Also, ventilation systems were upgraded to improve airflows.

PROJECT OUTCOME

We work collaboratively with our client, stakeholders and supply chain to develop and implement targeted social value interventions that respond to local needs.
